Workspace Overview

A tour of the workspace UI: where the chat lives, where the 3D model lives, and what the bars on top and side do.

The three zones

Open any product (from the dashboard, or right after creating one) and you'll land on the workspace. It has three main zones plus a toolbar:

  1. 1. Project header — a slim bar across the top with the product name, search, versions, lifecycle, downloads, settings, and help.
  2. 2. Messages panel — the chat conversation, on the left. This is where you write Build or Ask prompts.
  3. 3. Preview pane — the 3D viewer, on the right. The Action Bar sits here and groups the viewer's tools.

Messages panel

The messages panel shows your conversation with QuantCAD as a thread of user prompts and assistant responses. While a run is in progress you'll see a status line that explains what the system is doing (e.g. “Analyzing your request…”, “Building the design plan…”, “Reviewing your question…”).

At the bottom of the panel is the message form:

  • • A multi-line text input.
  • • A mode switcher for choosing Build vs Ask. The choice is remembered per product.
  • • A submit button — or press ⌘ Enter / Ctrl Enter.
  • • A Stop current run control while a run is in progress.

At the very bottom you'll see the disclaimer “QuantCAD is an AI system that can make mistakes. Check important design, info and data.” — always verify generated geometry before manufacturing.

Preview pane

The preview pane renders the current revision of your product in 3D. It uses a Z-up coordinate system and draws an infinite reference grid by default. Drag with the left mouse button to rotate, the right mouse button to pan, and the scroll wheel to zoom.

See the 3D Viewer page for navigation, projection and camera details.

Header and Action Bar

  • • The Project Header gives you product-level controls: search, versions, lifecycle, downloads, appearance, sidebar collapse, and notifications.
  • • The Action Bar (next to the viewer) groups viewer tools: select, hide, measure, clipping, screenshots and more.

Responsive behavior

On smaller screens the messages panel and viewer stack vertically. Many of the header menus collapse into a hamburger menu. Use the sidebar collapse control in the header to give the viewer extra room when you need it.
