File Formats

QuantCAD exports STEP (AP242, millimetres) and STL. Use STEP to open the model as a solid in another CAD tool, and STL for 3D printing or visualization.

What is supported

Exportable formats today: STEP (B-rep CAD interchange, written as AP242 in millimetres) and STL(triangulated mesh generated from the solid). Other CAD formats (IGES, X_T, JT, etc.) are not yet available. You can also capture a PNG or JPG screenshot of the viewer.

STEP

STEP (.step / .stp)

The standard neutral format for B-rep solids (ISO 10303). QuantCAD writes AP242 with millimetre units, so exact curves, surfaces and topology open as solid bodies in your CAD tool.

Best for: Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Onshape, FreeCAD, Inventor, CATIA, NX, and other parametric / direct-modeling tools.

STL

STL (.stl)

Triangulated mesh. Curved surfaces are approximated by flat triangles, with three quality presets: Draft, Normal, High.

Best for: Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, ChiTuBox, Lychee, and other slicers / mesh tools.

Use Draft for quick preview prints, Normal as a sensible default, and High when you need very smooth curved surfaces. Larger meshes mean larger files and longer slicer load times.

Screenshots

  • • PNG Screenshot: lossless image of the current viewer. Great for documentation.
  • • JPG Screenshot: compressed image, good for quick sharing in chat or email.

Where to export from

  • • From the Action Bar > Download menu inside any product workspace.
  • • From the Export Management page in the dashboard sidebar. See Data Management.
