Overview
A short tour of the platform's vocabulary and the path a prompt takes to become an exportable 3D model.

Core concepts
Product
A QuantCAD design — the container for your prompts, revisions and exports. Created from the New Product page.
Revision
Each Build prompt produces a new revision attached to the product. Use the Versions menu to browse them.
Build mode
Modifies the model. The default mode for prompts that should change geometry.
Ask mode
Asks a question without changing the model. Cheaper than Build and useful for sanity checks.
Lifecycle
Status of a product across its life: Draft, Prototype In Work, In Review, Released, Obsolete.
Credits
Spend on Build, Ask and product creation. Plan credits roll over up to a cap; bonus credits never expire.
From prompt to product
Describe
Write what you want in plain language with explicit dimensions and features.
Generate
Build mode reserves the credit cost, runs the generation, and saves the result as a revision.
Inspect
The 3D viewer shows the result. Use the Action Bar to measure, hide parts and slice with clipping planes.
Refine
Continue the conversation in Build mode for changes, or Ask mode for questions.
Export
When you're satisfied, export STEP for CAD or STL for printing.
What you can do in the workspace
- • Send Build or Ask prompts in the chat
- • Stop a run that's in progress
- • Switch between revisions in the Versions menu
- • Toggle perspective vs orthographic projection
- • Snap the camera to one of six axis-aligned views
- • Measure distances, angles, edge lengths and bounding boxes
- • Hide selected parts, then show them all again
- • Activate clipping planes in X, Y or Z to look inside
- • Download STL, STEP, PNG or JPG
